Crazy clock
Time is not in our hands. Instead, it is continuously running whether we look at it or not.
This project started with the proposal of depicting the theme of “natural time” with an interactive product or installation. Nowadays, there is a common feeling that people are running faster than time in their daily routines. As such, they seem to be in disarray with natural time. There is no time to feel the time passing, or give others time to feel it.
The crazy clock attempts to represent this crazy speeding up of a non stoppable time in our daily lives. The clock rotates crazily until someone passes by or stands in front of it. It then takes time to show the time: only when someone stands in front of it for while is that its hands slow to the the accurate time. The prototype works on two stepper motors to control the hands and a distance sensor to make it interactive.
